CSIR-NIScPR Training Programmes
CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) is constituted by merger of erstwhile CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Information Resources (CSIR-NISCAIR) and erstwhile CSIR- National Institute of Science Technology and Development Studies (CSIR-NISTADS).
CSIR-National Institute of Science Communication and Policy Research (CSIR-NIScPR) has been providing training programmes for the last several decades. Equipped with necessary facilities and manpower, CSIR-NIScPR is ideally placed to train science communicators, R&D personnel, library and information science professionals for meeting the challenges of current times. The training programmes of CSIR-NIScPR are conducted under CSIR Integrated Skill Initiative.
CSIR-NIScPR conducts training in the field of science communication, library automation, digital repositories, open journal systems software, website development etc. During these training programmes participants are mainly trained in open source software like Linux, Koha, Dspace, OJS, Joomla etc.
CSIR-NIScPR current training programmes can be categorized as follows:
- Online short term training programmes
- On-site training programmes
1. Online Short Term Training Programmes
CSIR-NIScPR has started conducting short term programmes through online mode in the field of Library and Information Science and other areas.
Eligibility for Online Short Term Training Programmes
The online short term programmes are offered to R&D personnel, science communicators, library and information science professionals/ students etc.
Online Training Programme fee structure for the FY 2021-22

Payment of Course Fee
Payment of required fee may be made to NIScPR bank account through NEFT/IMPS/UPI etc. It may kindly be noted that payment through Demand Draft / Cheque / Cash will not be accepted. Click here to see bank details.
How to apply?
Scanned copy of filled in application form along with the details of appropriate training fee paid for a particular online training programme is to be sent through email at training@niscpr.res.in. Click here for application form.
Refund of Fee
The following guidelines will apply for refund of training programme fee in the event of a cancellation of request from the applicant or sponsoring body for online short term training programmes.
If intimation about cancellation is received:
- More than one month in advance - refund with 10% deduction
- More than one week in advance but less than one month - refund with 20% deduction
- Less than one week in advance - no refund
In case of cancellation of the training programme by NIScPR, the fee would either be refunded in full or adjusted against registration to a similar training programme on receiving a written communication from the applicant.

- Skill Training in Library Automation and Institutional Repositories for Library Professionals conducted during 25 October - 18 November 2021.
2. On-Site Training Programmes
NIScPR organizes training programmes as per requirement of the client in the field of science communication, library automation, digital repositories, open journal systems software etc. at the client's premises subject to minimum of 10 participants. The topics, dates etc. are materialised based on mutual consent. However, the fee for such programmes would be decided by the NIScPR on case to case basis.
