NISCPR’s Print Production Division plays a major role in fulfilling the mandate of NISCPR of publishing high-quality S&T literature with mass appeal. The Division has acquired vast paraphernalia of pre- and post-press facilities and expertise in the field of print production. The Division comprises of Four Sections: Production, Art & Graphic, DTP and Printing & Binding.

The Division undertakes formatting, designing, production and printing of In-house publications comprising Research Journals, Books, Encyclopedias, Reports, Newsletters and Popular Science Magazines etc. These include Annual Reports, Newsletters, Posters, Brochures, Pamphlets, etc., mainly in 4-colour. The personnel of the Division also deliver lectures and impart training on various aspects of DTP, designing, production and printing. This Division looks after planning, cost estimation, scheduling, and production of NISCPR publication, co-ordination with different sections to maintain the quality and time schedule of the publications, and follow-up for payment are some of the major activities.

The Division also takes care of all the visuals, graphic designing, creative drawings and illustrations of various in-house and outside publications. A team of qualified Artists and Graphic Designers undertakes exclusive jobs of creative designing jobs like, Posters/Banners, Books/ Magazines/Report Covers/Jackets. Small but creative jobs, like Advertisement design, Invitation Cards, Folder/Brochure Designs. Specialized Layout Designs, Masthead, Logo designs etc. are also the expertise of the Graphic team. Creative/figurative drawings as well as technical drawings like Flowcharts, Bar chart, Pie charts, etc. are graphically and digitally created, and improved for use in the various publications and publicity materials like folders, catalogues, etc. Scanning and editing to improve the impact of the pictures/illustrations and mixing of various pictures into one picture (collage) are yet another specialty of the section. The Division is equipped with high-end computer systems, medium quality scanners, colour laser printers and latest versions of graphic designing software applications like CorelDraw, Adobe Photoshop, PageMaker and InDesign. The work involves page layout, formatting, scanning of illustrations, colour correction, etc. These publications contain a number of B&W and color Photographs/Illustrations, Halftones, Drawings, etc. which are scanned and incorporated into the laid-out pages and the single piece output taken through Laser Printer.

The PPD is also equipped with adequate number of high-end desktop computer systems along with scanners and printers. It provides services such as data entry, scanning of photographs, illustrations, chemical structures, graphs, bar codes, etc. and is also engaged in formatting of NISCPR journals using appropriate software. The Printing Section takes care of all printing assignments/jobs for offset/digital processes through the panel of outside printers.
