Abstract: The transparent polycarbonate specimens were illuminated with light of suitable wavelength. The magnitude of the photoplastic effect has been detected and found to be strongly temperature dependent in the range 25-100°C. At low temperature, it shows negative photoplastic effect whereas at high temperature it shows positive photoplastic effect. This observation suggests a way to distinguish among several theories of photoplasticity.
