dc.description.abstractA highly efficient method for the synthesis of 1-((1-(4-(2H-benzo[e][1,3]oxazin-3(4H)-yl)phenyl)ethylidene)amino)-6-((arylidene)amino)-4-(3-nitrophenyl)-2-oxo-1,2-dihydropyridine-3,5-dicarbonitriles is described. The structures have been confirmed by IR, 1H and 13C NMR, and mass spectral techniques. The synthesized compounds have been tested for antimicrobial activity. The title compounds 4a-o have been studied against strains of bacteria (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes) and fungi (Candida albicans, Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus clavatus) by serial dilution method. Compounds 4b (-2-OH), 4f (-4-NO2), 4h (-3-Cl), 4j (-4-OCH3), 4l (-4-OH-3-OCH3) and 4m (-N,N’-(CH3)2) exhibit good in vitro antimicrobial activity.en_US
