Abstract: Reactions of MX3 (M = As(III), Sb(III), X = Cl or OPri) with alkali (Na/Li) salts of 2-alkylamino- cyclopentene-1-carbodithioic acids or acid itself [R(H)NC(S)SM’]in 1:3 molar ratio in anhydrous benzene, yield neutral six-coordinate complexes of type M[S(S)CN(H)R]3 where M = As(III), Sb(III); M' = H, Na or Li and R == H, Me, Et and n-Bu. Spectral data indicate that bonding in these complexes occurs through SS sites leading to the formation of four-membered chelate ring.
