Abstract: The complexes of the type M(HMICdt)2 or 3, where M = Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), Hg(II), Pd(II), Pt(II), Co(III), Ru(III), Rh(III) or Ir(III) and HMICdt- = hexamethyleneiminecarbodithioate, have been prepared. Their structures have been established by elemental analyses, conductance and magnetic measurements, electronic, IR, 1H and 13C NMR spectra and X-ray powder patterns. The M(HMICdt)3 type complexes have octahedral geometry. The Ni(II), Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes have been found to be square planar whereas MS4 group seems to have a somewhat flattened tetrahedral structure in the case of Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II). A secondary interaction between the S of a MS4 group and M of another complex molecule seems to exist in Zn, Cd and Hg complexes. The infrared and NMR have indicated that the CSS- group is symmetrically chelated with all these metal ions.
