Abstract: A reliable and efficient protocol for isolation and amplification of genomic DNA from dried mace of Myristica fragrans, was developed. The yield of genomic DNA was 231.4 µg g-1 and 306.8 µg g-1, respectively for the samples procured from the farm and market. The absorbance ratio at A260/A280 was greater than 1.8 indicating the good quality of DNA. Complete restriction digestion and PCR amplification of genomic DNA further confirmed the quality of isolated DNA.
