Synthesis and characterization of some novel hetero(bi-, and tri-) metallic (sterically hindered) alkoxides of iron(III)

Abstract

Novel heterometal tertiary butoxide complexes of compositions FeCl₂{Al(OBu<em>^t</em>)₄} (<strong>Ia</strong>), FeCl{(OBu<em>^t</em>)₄}₂) (<strong>Ib</strong>), Fe(OBu<em>^t</em>)₂ {Al(OBu<em>^t</em>)₄} (<strong>II</strong>), {FeAl{(OBu<em>^t</em>)₄}{Nb(OPr<em>ⁱ</em>)₆}₂ (<strong>IIIa</strong>) and Fe{Al(OBu<em>^t</em>)₄}₂ {Nb(OPr<em>ⁱ</em>)₆} (<strong>IIIb</strong>) have been synthesized by metathetical reactions. Alcoholysis of <strong>IIIb</strong> with an excess of MeOH and Bu<em>^t</em>OH produces complexes of the formulae Fe{Al(OMe)₄}₂{Nb(OMe)₆} (<strong>IVa</strong>) Fe{Al(OBu<em>^t</em>)₄}₂{Nb(OPr<em>ⁱ</em>)₂ (OBu<em>^t</em>)₄} and respectively. All these complexes have been characterized by elemental analyses, spectral, magnetic moment and molecular weight studies.
