Abstract: | This study was based on the importance of mollusk fisheries in Pakistan and its role to support marine economy. As reported before, Pakistan is rich in varied mollusk species with biological, ecological and economic importance. The primary data use for this study was originated from accessible reports, publications, and news. The results were indicated that mollusks production tends to increase in most years but declined during 1983-2006. The highest mollusk production was noticed in 1999 i.e. (9,441 metric tons). Mollusks deserve more attention from Government of Pakistan and private sectors to improve its production and quality. If the Pakistani government succeeds, it is likely to say that Pakistan would be able to become a good supplier of mollusk products in the international market. |
