Abstract: The computational demands in the field of weather prediction and climate studies are very large, but it is difficult to buy many supercomputers in the country because of financial constraints. A global weather model has been modified for its implementation on 16 processors of parallel processing system (PPS) developed by C-DOT, Bangalore. It is found that the performance of the model on PPS is about 8 times slower than on CRAY-XMP 216 with one CPU in the case of 10-day integration.
