Abstract: A simple, sensitive and accurate UV- spectrophotometric method has been developed for the determination of a hydroxychloroquine sulphate (HCQ) in raw material and pharmaceutical formulations. The parameters such as linearity, range, accuracy and stability have been determined according to International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines. UV - spectroscopic determination is carried out at an absorption maximum of 343 nm using 0.1N HCl as solvent. In the UV - spectroscopic method linearity over the concentration range of 1 – 20 µg/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0.9992. Results of the analysis are validated statistically and by recovery studies. The proposed method is simple, rapid, precise and accurate and can be used for the reliable quantitation of hydroxychloroquine sulphate in bulk and pharmaceutical formulations.
