Abstract: Shiyali Ramamrita Ranganathan introduced a number of classical theories and their practical applications with rules, regulations, laws, canons etc. The article traces the influencing philosophical factor which laid the philosophical foundation in his mind for lifelong academic and professional efforts. It is observed that Indian classical epic literature in general and Laws of Manu known as Manu Samhita or Manu-smriti in particular had a great impact on his thoughts.
