Abstract: Nine bisazo dyes have been synthesized in high yields by coupling tetrazotised 2,7-diaminobenzo [1,2d : 4,3d'] bisthiazole with various commercial coupling components. Investigation of the dyeing properties revealed that most of the dyes had low pick up and fastness. One dye derived from N-ethyl-N-β-cyanoethylaniline, however, gave bordeaux shade and had excellent pick up and fastness on polyester.
