Abstract: | Large Cardamom is mainly used as a spice in various food preparations. Besides this, it has number of medicinal properties also. Large Cardamom is a potential crop to increase the income of farmers in specific pockets of Himachal Pradesh and for diversification in the cropping system. Keeping in view its importance and to boost its cultivation in Himachal Pradesh, an experiment was conducted at the Experimental Farm of Vegetable Science & Floriculture, CSK HPKV, Palampur to standardize the propagation techniques of Large Cardamom. Early germination was observed in naturally ventilated poly-houses. Due to early germination, seedlings took less time for transplantation from primary to the secondary nursery. Higher germination was recorded when seeds were treated with 25% HNO) (10 minutes) and 2000 ppm GAr Besides this the seed germination was quicker in acid treated seeds as compared to other treatments. |
