Abstract: The combined effect of heating of roving at the break draft zone and space between the aprons of ring frame drafting system on yarn quality has been studied. Heating of roving at the break draft zone of ring frame reduces the friction between the drafting fibres which can be advantageously utilized by reducing the spacing between the aprons, thereby improving the control over the floating fibres. It is observed that the yarn imperfections, faults and elongation - at - break are affected by the heating of roving at the break draft zone and vary ing the space between the aprons.
