| Abstract: | A highly efficient, simple and rapid method for the synthesis of 1,2,4-triazolo[4,3-a][1,8] naphthyridines 8 by the oxidation of the corresponding aryl aldehyde 3-(p-nitrophenyl)-1, 8-naphthyridin-2-ylhydrazones 7 using nitrous acid (NaNO2/CH3COOH) under microwave irradiation has been described. Microwave assisted react ions have resulted in better yields or the desired products than prepared under conventional conditions. The structures of the compounds 3-8 are supported by spectral and analytical data. |
