Abstract: Six hexacoordinated mixed-ligand dinitrosyl complexes of molybdenum(0) of composition, [Mo(NO)2(L-L)2]×H2O {where (L-L)H = 8-hydroxyquinoline-4-(o-tolyl)-sulphonamide (HQOTS,I), 8-hydroxyquinoline-4-(m-tolyl)-sulphonamide (HQMTS, II), 8- hydroxyaquinol ine-4-(o-methoxyphenyl)sulphon amide (HQOMPS, III), 8-hydroxyquinoline-4-(m-methoxyphenyl) sulphonamide (HQMMPS, IV), 8-hydroxyquinoline-4-(o-ethoxyphenyl)- sulphonamide (HQOEPS, V) and 8-hydroxyquinoline-4- (m-ethoxyphenyl)sulphonami de(HQMEPS,VI)}, have been synthesized in a single step directly from molybdate(VI). The complexes so obtained have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductances, decomposition temperatures, magnetic measurements,1H-NMR, infrared and electronic spectral studies. All the complexes are found to contain low-spin {Mo(NO)2}6 electron configuration.
