Abstract: Non compliance of the safety rules lead to accidental injury. The effect of laboratory practices on health, safety and environment is an important issue. Accidents in laboratory occur mostly due to not following safety guidelines, by improper storage of chemicals and insufficient knowledge about the use of dangerous chemicals. Various studies in India have shown that safety rules are followed only in few laboratories in India. Due to improper implementation of safety guidelines these laboratories are always prone to accidents and environmental pollution. The present paper focuses on different hazards, management of hazards and importance of safety in laboratory.
