Abstract: | A survey of the First Grade College libraries in the State of Karnataka has been carried out. The 720 colleges in the State have been categorised into four kinds, viz. aided, government, constituent and unaided colleges. Various aspects of the 370 libraries in these colleges such as qualifications of librarian, library staff, working hours, classification schemes used, lending, references services, library building facilities, etc., have been profiled. Concludes that the present status of college libraries in Karanataka is far from satisfactory owing to inadequate funds and staff. |
