Abstract: The review deals with the efficacy of bioactive components of Ocimum sp. (Tulsi) relating to pesticidal, fungicidal, bactericidal, and medicinal values used since ancient times, Eugenol, methyl chavicol, linalool, isoeugenol, and methyl isoeugenol are the main constituents found with active combinations against stored grain insects, pests, mosquitoes, many pathogenic fungal, and bacterial spp. Various medicinal properties of Ocimum are attributed to its similar bioactive components. Its multipurpose economic uses have applications in rural as well as urban areas.
