Abstract

<i><span style="font-size:14.0pt;line-height: 115%;font-family:" times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"times="" roman";="" color:#0e0e0e;mso-ansi-language:en-in;mso-fareast-language:en-in;mso-bidi-language:="" hi"="" lang="EN-IN">Ocimum sanctum</span></i><span style="font-size:14.0pt; line-height:115%;font-family:" times="" new="" roman";mso-fareast-font-family:"times="" roman";="" color:#0e0e0e;mso-ansi-language:en-in;mso-fareast-language:en-in;mso-bidi-language:="" hi"="" lang="EN-IN"> (tulasi), an Indian herb, well known for its medicinal properties, has been shown to have significant radioprotective, tumor preventive and antioxidant effects in animal models. The present paper reviews the recent literature on these aspects of this plant.</span>
