| Abstract: | Reaction of 5 , 6-epoxyecholestane
1, its 3β-acetoxy 2 and 3β
-chloro 3
analogues with glycine in dimethylformamide using AICI3 as catalyst
gives 5-cholestano[6, 5-d]oxazolidin-2'-one 4.
its 3β-acetoxy 5 and chloro 6 analogues, respectively. The
structures of these compounds have been established on the basis of their elemental,
analytical and spectral data. A mechanism has been suggested for the formation of
oxazolidinones 4-6.
