Abstract: Conjugated oximes are converted into pyrazoles in a one-pot reaction by refluxing with hydrazine and iodine in ethanol. The reaction proceeds via an inverse electron demand Diels-Alder reaction involving electron deficient heterodienes and diimide species as dipolarophile.
