Abstract: | Lanthanide(III) thiocyanate complexes of the type [Ln(NCS)3(L)2]n.H2O and [Ln(NCS)3(L')2n.H2O where Ln=Y, Pr-Dy, n=2, Ln=Y, Pr-Sm, Eu-Dy, n=3,1) and L & L' are 5-methyl-2(2'-pyridyl)benzimidazole (MePBH) and 2-(2'pyridyl)benzoxazole(PBOX), respectively have been synthesised and characterised by various physico-chemical techniques such as the conductance and thermogravimetric studies. electronic. IR. NMR (1H and 13C) and fluorescence spectral investigations. All the complexes show the luminescence of the ligand. The Sm, Eu, Tb, and Dy complexes show the corresponding metal ion luminescence. |
