Abstract: Pinus massoniana bark extract (PMBE) at a concentration of 60 μg/mL or more inhibits the expression of Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) lytic proteins, such as Rta, Zta, and EA-D. EBV lytic cycle was blocked by inhibiting the transcription of immediate-early genes. The results suggest that the PMBE has anti-EBV activity. Thus, the extract is potentially useful in preventing the lytic development of EBV in vitro.
