Abstract: 3-(3-Mercaptoalkyl-7H-[1,2,4] triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-6-yl)- chromen-2-one 3 have been prepared by the condensation of 3-(2-bromoacetyl)coumarin 1 and 4-amino-5-mercaptoalkyl-4H-[1,2,4]triazole-3- thiol 2 in anhydrous ethanol. Similarly the 7,8-benzo analagues of 1 on reaction with 2 resulted in the formation of 7,8-benzo derivatives of 3s-x. Reaction of 3a with phenacyl chloride in anhydrous ethanol gave corresponding 3-(3-(2-oxo-2-phenylethylsulphanylmethyl)-7H- [1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4] thiadiazin-6-yl]chromen-2-one 4. The 7,8-benzo analogues of 3s-t on treatment with phenacyl chloride in anhydrous ethanol under reflux gave 4g and 4h. The newly synthesized compounds are characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, IR, ¹H NMR and mass spectral data. Some of the compounds are screened for their antitubercular, antiviral and anticancer activities.
