Abstract: Based on unit-cost extended life (UCEL) measure, this study developed an optimization algorithm to minimize total maintenancecost subject to a threshold value of system reliability for non-periodic preventive maintenance (PM) model in a seriesparallelsystem. An importance measure of UCEL components is developed to facilitate determining maintenance policy. A casestudy showed that developed algorithm obtains satisfied results easily and quickly in comparison with earlier studies.
