Abstract: The applicability of a simple method proposed earlier by the authors to predict the thermal post-buckling behaviour of structural elements has been demonstrated in this paper for the case of tapered columns. Numerical results are presented to show the accuracy of the method along with comparable finite element results. Both depth and diameter tapered columns are considered with simply supported and clamped boundary conditions.
