Abstract: An easy two-step synthesis of 1,6-naphthyridines (<b style="">4a-c, 7a-c, 10a-c, 14a-c</b>) has been arrived from 3-formylquinolin-2(1<i style="">H</i>)-ones <b style="">1a-c</b> and respective arylamines (<b style="">2, 5, 8</b>, <b style="">12</b>) which underwent condensation and aromatized by dehydration with the help of PPA. All the synthesized compounds have been biologically screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
