Abstract: An easy two-step synthesis of 1,6-naphthyridines (4a-c, 7a-c, 10a-c, 14a-c) has been arrived from 3-formylquinolin-2(1H)-ones 1a-c and respective arylamines (2, 5, 8, 12) which underwent condensation and aromatized by dehydration with the help of PPA. All the synthesized compounds have been biologically screened for their antibacterial and antifungal activities.
