Abstract: One new iridolactone, shanzhilactone 1 along with known iridoidglucosides, mussaenoside, barlerin (8-O-acetyl­shanzhiside methyl ester), lupeol and β-D-glucose have been isolated from the stem of Mussaenda incana (Rubiaceae) and their structures elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical studies.
