| Abstract: | Anthranilic acid on
treatment with an aromatic acid chloride in pyridine gives 2-aryl-4-oxo-3H-benzoxazines
1 which reacts with p-aminobenzoic acid to afford 2-aryl-3-p-carboxylatophenyl-4-oxo-3H-quinazolines
2. Interaction of 2 with benzoin in the presence of
polyphosphoric acid results 2-aryl-3-(3',-4'-diphenylisocoumarinyl)-4-oxo-3H-quinazolines
3, which on reaction with 2-amino-5-aralkyl-1,3,4-thiadiazoles yield
2-aryl-3-[5'-aralkyl-1',3',4'-thiadiazolyl-{2'-(3'',4''-diphenyl-1"-oxo-isoquinolinyl)}]-4-oxo-3H-quinazolines
4. The antifungal and antiviral activities of 4 have been
reported. |
