| Abstract: | The leaves, stem
and roots of Sesbania bispinosa, a crop of nutritional value to the
soil, have thoroughly been examined to yield an antidiabetic inositol
derivative, called (+)-pinitol 1,
along with poriferasterol, an uncommon steroid, and its glucoside and sucrose
from the methanol extract. The nonpolar and polar extracts afford saturated and
unsaturated common fatty acids along with several terminal and central hydroxy
unsaturated lipid derivatives 2-7
whose isolation is reported for the first time. |
