dc.description.abstractA new copper(II) complex [Cu2(C2O4)(2,2'-bpy)2(H2O)2]·(NO3)2 has been synthesized by the reaction of copper nitrate with 2,2'-bipyridine and potassium oxalate in aqueous solution. X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that the title complex crystallizes in monoclinic system, space group PZ1/n with a = 7.717(3) Å, b = 10.221(3) Å, c = 16.582(5) Å, = 100.110(5)°, V = 1287.5(7) Å3, Mr =687.53, Z = 2, Dc = 1.773 g/cm3, = 0.71073 Å, (MoK) = 1.729 mm-1 and F(000) = 696. The final R and wR factors for the observed reflections with I>2σ(I) are 0.0255 and 0.0610, respectively. The dinuclear complex consists of a coordination cation [Cu2(C2O4) (2,2'-bpy)2(H2O)2]2+ and two NO3- anions. Each copper(II) atom is five-coordinated in a distorted tetragonal pyramidal geometry.en_US
