| Abstract: | A series of novel
2-thioxo-5,6-diphenyl-furo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4(1H)-ones are
synthesized by the condensation of
2-amino-3-ethylcarboxylate-4,5-diphenylfuran with monosubstituted thioureas on
alumina support, under microwave irradiation. An excellent yield of 92% is
obtained within 8 minutes of reaction time period. The compounds are found to
have antifungal and antibacterial activities. |
