Abstract: The structural and magnetic properties of mixed spinel system Mn<sub>1+x</sub>Si<sub>x</sub>Fe<sub>1-x</sub>Cr<sub>1-x</sub>O<sub>4</sub> (<i>x</i> = 0.0, 0.1,0.2,0.3,0.4,0.5) have been investigated by X-ray diffraction and magnetization studies. X-ray intensity calculations indicate that Si<sup>4+</sup> ions occupy only tetrahedral (A) sites replacing Fe<sup>3+</sup> ions and Mn<sup>3+</sup> ions replace Fe<sup>3+</sup> ions from (B) site. The variation of saturation magnetic moment per formula unit measured at 300 K with the Si<sup>4+</sup> content is explained on the basis of Neel’s collinear spin ordering model.
