Abstract: A more realistic criterion than that of Soni S N, <i style="">J Phys B</i>, 23 (1990) 117, has been proposed for the origin of X-ray satellites in general. The criterion has been used for the identification of different transitions in two hole atoms which contribute to the formation of the L<img src='/image/spc_char/alpha.gif' border=0><sub>4</sub> satellite for 48 ≤ Z ≤ 56.<u></u>
