Abstract: Zirconium(IV)chloride (ZrCl<sub>4</sub>) catalyzed efficient one-pot synthesis of methylene-bis-<i style="">β</i>-amino/methylene-bis-<i style="">β</i>-acetamido ketones at room temperature has been described. In the presence of ZrCl<sub>4</sub>, the three-component Mannich-type reaction <i style="">via</i> a variety of <i style="">in situ</i> generated aldimines with various ketones, methylene-bis-methoxybenzaldehyde and aromatic amines in ethanol, led to the formation of methylene-bis-<i style="">β</i>-amino ketones and the four-component Mannich-type reaction of methylene-bis-methoxy­benzaldehyde with ketones, acetonitrile and acetyl chloride resulted in the corresponding methylene-bis-<i style="">β</i>-acetamido ketones in high to excellent yields. All the newly synthesized compounds have been characterized by their spectral and elemental analyses
