| Abstract: | The paper reports a theoretical investigation into the
various aspects of an axisymmetric sintered compound flow problem of powder
preforms which have been compacted and sintered from atomized metal powder.
Many forging processes involve flow of preform in more than one direction. Die
and process design require to determine the flow behaviour and the forging
force. The analysis of a general axisymmetric problem is discussed and
presented graphically here. In addition to the fundamental interest, it
emphasizes the power of upper-bound analysis when applied to the prediction of
compound sintered metal flow. |
