| Abstract: | Polymer films are
finding many applications like in ion track registration, microfilters for gas
separation, water purification etc. Positron Annihilation Lifetime Spectroscopy
(PALS) provides non-destructive and non-interfering probe, having high
detection efficiency for free volume hole properties. Makrofol - KL
polycarbonate films (22 µm) were irradiated by 136Xe (11.56 MeV/n)
with the fluences of 105 ions/cm2. Ion beam modifications
were studied by PALS technique. From the o-Ps lifetime, mean free volume, hole
radius and microvoid volume have been obtained which are found to increase with
irradiation. |
