|Title:||Excess thermodynamic studies of binary liquid mixtures of 2-methyl-2-propanol with ketones|
|Abstract:||Densities (ρ), ultrasonic speeds (<i>u</i>) and viscosities (η) of binary mixtures of 2-methyl-2-propanol (2M2P) with acetone (AC), ethyl methyl ketone (EMK) and acetophenone (AP) including those of pure liquids have been measured over the entire composition range at temperatures 298.15, 303.15 and 308.15 K, respectively. From these experimental data, the excess available volume, <i style="">V</i><sub>a</sub><sup>E</sup>, excess free volume, <i style="">V</i><sub>f</sub><sup>E</sup>, excess internal pressure, π<sub>i</sub><sup>E</sup>, excess intermolecular free length, <i style="">L</i><sub>f</sub><sup>E</sup>, excess acoustic impedance, <i style="">Z</i><sup>E</sup> and excess free energy of activation, Δ<i style="">G<sup>*E</sup></i> are<b> </b>calculated. The variations of these properties with composition and temperature of the binary mixtures have been studied in terms of molecular interactions between unlike molecules of the mixtures. The theoretical viscosities have been evaluated using four standard models and the relative merits are studied in terms of the interaction parameters.|
