Tarragon, Artemisia dracunculus Linn. has a traditional Persian
history of use as a natural cleanser of the blood and for the treatment of
headaches and dizziness. Studies done on rats showed that an extract of this
artemisia has anticoagulatory and anti-hyperlipidemic activities. Thus the
extract appear potentially useful as agent to help decrease the incidence of
coronary disease in humans since a reduction in serum cholesterol of 15% and
serum triglycerides of 25% was observed in rats treated with extract and
maintained on a hyperlipidemic diet. |
