Abstract: Bis(3-indolyl)methylarenes are obtained in good yield by reaction of indole with ⍺,⍺-bis(arylmethylene)ketones and ⍺-substituted arylmethyleneketones in dry ethanol using catalytic amount of molecular iodine at room temperature. A plausible mechanism for formation of these products has been suggested.
