|Abstract:||Microwave irradiation has been successfully utilized for the first time for the activation of unmodified hydrotalcites (HTs, a basic anionic clay), in the Michael addition reaction between enones and active methylenic compounds under solventless conditions. In comparison with conventional heating, microwave process offers an useful alternative for activation of HTs resulting in reduction of reaction time, better yield and an easy-to-perform procedure. A plausible mechanism for the observed catalysis is presented.|
