Abstract: <smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="PlaceName"><smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="PlaceType"><smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="country-region"><smarttagtype namespaceuri="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" name="place"> <i>Bibliometric analysis of &nbsp;</i><i>8396 </i><i>citations appended to 737</i> <i>articles published in the Indian Journal of Pure </i>&amp; <i>Applied</i> <i>Mathematics, volumes </i><i>29</i> <i>to </i><i>33</i> <i>during the years 1998-</i> <i>2002 and 470 citations appended to </i><i>70</i> <i>articles published</i> <i>in the maiden volume </i><i>1</i> <i>published in 1970 has been</i> <i>carried out to observe the distribution of contributions,</i> <i>authorship pattern, citation analysis, geographical</i> <i>distribution of contributions and number of pages used</i> <i>in each volume. </i>A <i>comparative study of articles published</i> <i>in five volumes vis-a-vis those in volume </i><i>1</i> <i>has been</i> <i>made. Results indicate that the number of contributions</i> <i>is increasing in successive volumes. Highest number of</i> <i>papers have been written by joint authors. The most cited</i> <i>documents are articles from the research joumals. The</i> <i>contributions in this journal from India and other countries</i> <i>are almost equal. Among the Indian states, Uttar Pradesh</i> <i>is the top contributor whereas among the Indian</i> <i>universities/institutes, University of Delhi is at the top. At</i> <i>the International level, India is the top contributor followed</i> by <i>China</i><i>. The growth and popularity of this journal is</i> <i>found to </i>be <i>showing an upward trend.</i> </smarttagtype></smarttagtype></smarttagtype></smarttagtype>
