Bibliometric analysis of 8396 citations appended to 737
articles published in the Indian Journal of Pure & Applied
Mathematics, volumes 29 to 33 during the years 1998-
2002 and 470 citations appended to 70 articles published
in the maiden volume 1 published in 1970 has been
carried out to observe the distribution of contributions,
authorship pattern, citation analysis, geographical
distribution of contributions and number of pages used
in each volume. A comparative study of
articles published
in five volumes vis-a-vis those in volume 1 has been
made. Results indicate that the number of contributions
is increasing in successive volumes. Highest number of
papers have been written by joint authors. The most cited
documents are articles from the research joumals. The
contributions in this journal from India and other countries
are almost equal. Among the Indian states, Uttar Pradesh
is the top contributor whereas among the Indian
universities/institutes, University
of Delhi is at the top.
At
the International level, India
is the top contributor followed
by China. The growth and popularity of this journal is
found to be showing an upward trend.
