|Abstract:||A Cu-43at%Cd alloy was solidified at different cooling rates ranging from 100 to 106 K/s. For rapid solidification, (cooling rate ~106 K/s), a modified gun splat cooling technique was employed. Metastable crystalline and amorphous phases were obtained. Solid-state transformation of the alloy into equilibrium Cu4Cd3 was accelerated on increasing the cooling rate.|
