Abstract: This study assesses degree of deterioration of bulk emulsion explosive due to sleeping by using velocity of detonation (VOD). A reduction in VOD (10.0%) was observed when explosive cartridges were left at ambient temperature for 15 days in laboratory environment. In-hole VOD also fell from 4920 m/s down to 4359 m/s (11.0%) in 15 days of sleeping in real blast environment.
