Abstract: Metal ions such as Pb2+, Hg2+, Hg22+, Cd2+, Zn2+, Cu2+, Co2+, Ni2+, Fe3+, Fe2+ and Mn2+ have been chromatographed on paper strips impregnated with sodium diethyldithiocarbamate and its admixtures with SiO2, CaSO4, Na2CO3, NaCl, NH4Cl, EDTA, NaOH, CaCO3, Na2HPO4 and H3PO4. Common solvents namely acetone, acetonitrile, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, isopropanol, aqueous NaDDC and distilled water have been used as mobile phases. Several binary separations of heavy metal ions have been achieved experimentally.
