Abstract: In post GATT WTO era, it is essential for every country to develop own drug molecules for self-reliance in drugs and medicine. India has rich biodiversity. Many of the traditionally used medicinal plants have not been exploited / investigated scientifically. The paper presents the pharmacological, phytochemical and pharmacognostical characters of Scaevola frutescens Krause leaves, used in traditional and folk medicine.
