| Abstract: | Poly- -hydroxy aliphatic esters are novel bio-absorbable polymers (BAPs), which are being used extensively as implantation products (orthopaedics, drug delivery, scaffolds and sutures). Polylactic acid (PLA), polyglycolic acid (PGA) and polydioxanone (PDO) are approved from food and drug administration agency (FDA) for human clinical uses. This review presents available synthetic routes for making bio-absorbable polymers, their properties and end use applications. |
