| Abstract: | This review outlines the initial history followed by the subsequent developments witnessed by the domain of the enzyme catalyzed transformations in neutral ionic liquids. Apart from that some important synthetic transformations in the first generation Lewis acidic ionic liquids are also highlighted with emphasis on the rewarding results offered by these highly solvating and generally aprotic, polar media. |
